Abstract:
The research investigated on the significance of Corporate, Social
Responsibility (CSR) to Rural Development. The aim of the study was to
examine whether Zimplats has managed to address the social problems in
Ngezi, ward 11, through the initiation of social programmes and projects. The
study used both qualitative and quantitative research methodologies to collect
information and stratified random sampling was used to select respondents in
ward 11. It was clear from the data gathered that the community has benefited
from the Zimplats projects. The projects include drilling of boreholes, road
construction, agro-industrial projects as well as the establishment of the Ngezi
Shopping Centre. The researcher recommends that there should be government
regulations to govern CSR especially in Rural Development, organisations
should undertake their CSR programmes on a household level.
