The Department of adult and continuing Education offers career-oriented diploma, degree (honours) and special certificate programmes for learners who wish to pursue higher education alongside a busy lifestyle and demanding work schedule. These programmes are a gateway to rewarding careers such as; Instructors, Teachers of youths and adults, Non-formal education coordinators / lifelong learning, Lecturers in vocational education, Lecturers in polytechnical education, Community development officers, Training officers, Literacy tutors, Health promoters/educators, Supervisors in all sectors of economy.
Department of Curriculum Studies [14]
The Curriculum Studies Department strives to promote high quality teaching and learning through the development of practising teachers. The Department envisages the production of efficient, knowledgeable and culture anchored teachers. The Department offers postgraduate programmes like Master of Education Curriculum Studies, Master of Education Languages [ChiShona/Ndebele and English], and Graduate Diploma in education. In undergraduate programmes, the Department teaches Bachelor of Education Primary, Bachelor of Education Secondary and Bachelor of Education Secondary – Bridging Programme.

The Educational Foundations Department endeavors to promote excellent teaching and learning through the production of knowledgeable and culturally-oriented teachers. The Department offers postgraduate programmes like Master of Education Early Childhood Development, Master of Education Psychology, Master of Education Philosophy, Master of Education Sociology and Post Graduate Diploma in Higher and Tertiary Education. In undergraduate programmes, the Department teaches Bachelor of Education Honours Early Childhood Development Pre-Service, Bachelor of Education Honours Early Childhood Development In-Service, Bachelor of Education Honours Educational Leadership and Management, Bachelor of Education Honours Sociology, Bachelor of Education Honours Psychology, Bachelor of Education Honours Philosophy.
Department of Teacher Development [3]
The Department of Teacher Development strives to be a department of excellence in the development of innovative pre-service teachers who are well versed in culturally relevant pedagogics. The Department also strives to utilise technology in teaching and learning. The Department offers Bachelor of Education Honours degree (Secondary) pre-service and Bachelor of Education Honours degree (primary) preserve. In these programmes some international students from countries such as Namibia and South Sudan also enroll. International students with post-secondary qualifications below A Level go through a bridging programme first.
Jairosi Jiri Centre For Special Needs Education [0]
The Jairos Jiri Centre for Special Needs Education focuses on developing teachers for pupils with disabilities and other special educational needs. The Centre also provides support services for Great Zimbabwe University students with special educational needs. It is an arm of the Robert Mugabe School of Education and Culture. The Centre derives its operation from the Zimbabwean legend Jairos Jiri who was the first Black person to establish support services and special schools in Zimbabwe.
