In-depth interviews were used to interview two heads, eightECD teachers and six parents. Observations on the resources available in ECD programmes also helped the researcher to get the quality of resources in ECD centres. The findings revealed that most ECD centres lack stipulated resources in the Statutory Instrument 106 of 2005 hence there is no justice to the learners, they are just ECD centres. It was also revealed that lack of resources have impact on the development of the child because of poor foundation. It was also found that most people still do not understand the importance of ECD programmes hence they need knowledge so that they will also help with resources and treat ECD programmes as critical. Classrooms, flushing toilets, washing basins, running tapped water, indoor and outdoor materials and trained ECD teachers were found to be compulsory in the correct ratio as it help in the learning of learners. |
